Rancho Guajome Adobe- Vista, CA

I grew up in the more central part of San Diego County, so everything I knew of anything "historic" was a 20 minute drive south to Old Town. However, when we returned to San Diego county a few years ago, I was thrilled to discover historic buildings sprinkled throughout north county. Two days ago, I went up to Rancho Guajome Adobe, located in Vista.

I had no idea that this 112 acre Rancho even existed, but it is part of the San Diego County Park system. It was built in 1852 and is a traditional Spanish-Mexican Colonial style hacienda.

Only the grounds were open, as I came on a Monday.

Sunset Park, San Marcos

I have always found it strange to see abandoned properties, especially in Southern California. This dilapidated shed and seemingly abandoned farm was a stark contrast to the upscale-middle-class neighborhood and well-maintained city park that surrounded it.
